It is a time of transition here at Hawk and Sparrow Flowers; beds are turning from spring to summer. May’s end saw us busy with harvesting spring wheat, larkspur, love-in-a-mist to dry for use in future arrangements, and sowing sunflower, celosia, safflower, lily, purple majesty to adorn summer bouquets. Lavender is blooming and the blueberries are almost perfect for picking. Each season brings its own enchantment that we love sharing with you!
Tim and I welcome a new crew this summer to aid in these efforts, along with getting fresh stems to you - at market, for delivery, or for on-site pick up (call 704.400.3356 for farm store hours). For those who would like a behind-the-scenes view and to lend a hand, we’re accepting volunteers for you-pick blueberry ushers (season starts June 12!)…just email us at racewayberryfarm@gmail.com.
I’m excited for new blooms, bouquets, and blueberries…and for new and long-time friends alike enjoying them.
Until then,
Lis
