When we started this journey of being farmers, it was only blueberries we had in mind. That quickly developed into growing flowers, also, but with only one modest-sized greenhouse. We thought that was all we would ever want, or need. How things change!
We still love growing blueberries. They’re free of toxins and a benefit to the community, which we donate hundreds of pounds to a year at local food banks, and welcome you-pickers to each June. Our main focus now, though, is the flower farm, and floristry. With the flower farm, floristry service soon wove itself into our lives in a way that we couldn’t imagine being without it. Creating bouquets and arrangements for market and delivery, being part of your events through the flowers and foliage we customize and install uniquely for each moment is something we treasure. Floristry and the place it has in peoples’ lives is our passion. It became clear that we wanted not only an online shop, but one here, on the farm, open to our community.
What revs us up to get ready for the market each Saturday is the people. We build real relationships with long-time patrons, and make new connections with the people who come by our booth. We love seeing your reactions to the bouquets, hearing about and being part of your celebrations, and helping to comfort in those moments that are so tender. Sure, on the face of it we sell flowers, but it is so much more than that. Our florist farm allows us to be a part of the community in an intimate way that brings us great pride.
So, it’s a dream realized to open the doors to our flower shop on the farm. Starting September 1, we’ll have open shop hours on Thursdays and Fridays, from 1 to 5pm. The shop is in our cooled barn studio, just off a main entrance from the road. Directly in front of the shop are some of the original blueberry rows, and the start of our flower fields, which lead into some hoop houses, then more flower rows. Often, our resident felines, Wally and Sammy, will be seen lounging in the cool comfort of the barn, basking in the beauty of bouquets that surround them there. It is a good life. For the cats, and for us. It’s a pleasure to share it with the community.
We can’t wait for you to visit! Looking forward to opening shop in September and welcoming you to new fall events.
Your farming florists,
Lis & Tim
