So very happy to share that the second agricultural well is done! Done! Finally! We let you know a couple of weeks back that we started an important irrigation project this past January. It feels amazing to have it ready for the farm. A backup well allows for more confident planning, and more strategies for crops.
Flower farming is all about succession planting. And planning. Did we mention planning? 70% of our spring harvest is planted in October. Stems for summer bouquets are planted every week from May through the end of August, which gives us steady harvests through October. Then, it will be time for mums. There’s a rhythm to it all that is so enriching. Comforting. All of our planning and work, though, can’t make up for rain, or healthy soil. For our part, we believe in doing our best to help by using farming practices that are proven to be beneficial to the land, animals, and people that are impacted by our flowers and foliage.
With each planting, every week, our commitment to growing clean is affirmed. We don’t use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, mainly because we just don’t want to live with or handle dangerous chemicals. We also feel great about helping others enjoy flowers that aren’t a burden on the environment, or our bodies, by offering 100% farm grown arrangements and bouquets that support healthy farming practices, and the rhythm of each season.
